Homeschooling 7th Grade: A Non-Secular Curriculum for Art, History, Science, and Math

Homeschooling 7th Grade: A Non-Secular Curriculum for Art, History, Science, and Math

As a Mother you know the most important thing in a child's life is what and how you teach them about life and how to adapt to it. We mother's know best at time's it is hard to teach your child everything at once. Explaining your experience with life, doesn't always work out the way you want it to. Sometimes those beautiful faces you gave birth to, helped raise or gave up for better whether or not they will learn lessons without you being with them. Truthfully, I wish I had more lessons learned that gone through in my own life.

Below here is what I came up with for my own Daughter's Homeschooling plan for this year. Whether we can follow it or not is completely up to our abilities to want to learn and grow. I am sure she will adapt and change this for herself and learn in her own way! She is my bright shining star I never knew would follow in my passion for the Arts! - Dedicating this part to my Daughter. (Mom loves you beautiful girl)

Homeschooling can be a rewarding experience for both parents and children. As a homeschooling parent, you have the flexibility to tailor the curriculum to your child’s interests and needs. In this blog post, we’ll explore a non-secular 7th-grade curriculum focusing on art, history, science, math, and the lifecycles of pets. This guide is designed to help other homeschooling parents and families create an engaging and informative learning experience.

Art Curriculum

Art is a wonderful way for children to express themselves and develop their creativity. For 7th graders, consider incorporating the following activities:

  • Drawing and Painting: Encourage your child to draw and paint scenes from nature, historical events, or their imagination.
  • Art History: Study famous artists and their works. Discuss different art movements and styles.
  • Crafts: Engage in various crafts such as pottery, sculpture, and collage-making.

History Curriculum

Understanding the history of both Ohio and the United States is essential for a well-rounded education. Here are some topics to cover:

  • Ohio History: Explore the history of Ohio, from its Native American roots to its role in the Civil War and industrialization.
  • U.S. History: Cover key events in American history, such as the American Revolution, the Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement.
  • Field Trips: Visit local historical sites and museums to bring history to life.

Science Curriculum: Focus on Biology

Biology is a fascinating subject that can spark a lifelong interest in science. For 7th graders, focus on the following areas:

  • Human Biology: Study the human body, its systems, and how they work together.
  • Plant Biology: Learn about photosynthesis, plant anatomy, and the importance of plants in our ecosystem.
  • Animal Biology: Explore the lifecycles of different animals, including your pets.

Math Curriculum

Incorporate math into your lessons by using real-life examples, such as the ages and life expectancies of your pets. Here are some ideas:

  • Calculating Ages: Have your child calculate the ages of your pets in both human and animal years. For example, a 2-year-old bearded dragon is approximately 20 years old in human years.
  • Life Expectancy: Discuss the average life expectancy of each pet and calculate how many more years they are expected to live. For example, if a guinea pig’s average life expectancy is 6 years, and your guinea pig is 4 years old, it has approximately 2 more years to live.
  • Growth Rates: Study the growth rates of different animals and create graphs to visualize their development over time.

Lifecycles of Pets

Understanding the lifecycles of pets can be both educational and fun. Here are the lifecycles of your pets:

  • Bearded Dragon (Age 2): Bearded dragons go through several stages, from egg to hatchling, juvenile, and adult. They can live up to 10-15 years.
  • Guinea Pigs (2, Age 4): Guinea pigs have a lifecycle that includes birth, weaning, adolescence, adulthood, and old age. They typically live 4-8 years.

  • Geography: Learn about different regions, countries, and cultures.
  • Civics: Understand the basics of government, citizenship, and community involvement.
  • Current Events: Discuss recent news and how it impacts the world.

Incorporating Technology

In today’s digital age, technology plays a crucial role in education. Here are some ways to incorporate technology into your homeschooling curriculum:

  • Educational Apps: Use apps on your phone or computer to enhance learning. There are many apps available for subjects like math, science, and history.
  • Online Resources: Utilize online resources such as educational websites, videos, and interactive lessons to supplement your curriculum.
  • Digital Projects: Encourage your child to create digital projects, such as presentations, videos, and blogs, to demonstrate their understanding of the material.
  • Virtual Field Trips: Take advantage of virtual field trips to explore museums, historical sites, and natural wonders from the comfort of your home.

Drawing Activities

Encourage your child to draw as part of their learning process. Here are some ideas:

  • Nature Sketches: Draw plants, animals, and landscapes.
  • Historical Scenes: Illustrate key events from history lessons.
  • Scientific Diagrams: Create detailed drawings of biological processes and lifecycles.

By incorporating these elements into your homeschooling curriculum, you can create a rich and engaging educational experience for your 7th grader.
