Embracing Summer Vibes: Fun Activities and Relaxation

"What is one thing for summer that you enjoy? Is it the kids being out of school and you finally getting to take that vacation as a family? Where would you go if you had a ton of money saved up?"

It's summer, and we're having a blast! The sun is shining, the air is fresh, and we're spending lots of time together as a family. We planted our garden in May, and it's growing like crazy, even though we have had a ton of rain. We're so grateful for this beautiful weather, and we're enjoying every minute of it.

You would think that a garden would grow better at times, if you lived in Ohio summer weather and gardening you know how unpredictable it can be. Glad the pumpkins are growing well and our corn! We have some cucumbers growing and tomatoes too. Our daughter has planted sweet potatoes also.

Our home gardening tips are to have good soil for planting, make sure to either have a way to keep animals and bugs off of your garden so it grows better, buy either a garden bed above ground if you tend to have rabbits, moles and strangely ants. *those pesky ants like to steal the seeds* Make sure you plant in plenty of space, if growing anything that vines out be sure they are far enough that they won't grow into the other garden items.

Strange thing, you know we have this strange little woodchuck (ground hog) I swear thinks he's a cat or something. He has been getting into our garden at night. Even the 3 cats we have don't bother the little guy, so occasionally you'll see him out in the yard or garden. Not a pest, just something about the wood chuck that makes me think he's just watching the garden grow.

We have been homeschooling our daughter for the past few years. She loves being out of the house, playing on her swing set, and hanging out with her dogs and cats. This summer we are going to be home most of the time, so we bought some outdoor games for kids  (yes even us) to play together. We got some foam airplanes to throw around, and we'll be playing badminton and bag toss games. I think we'll have a lot of fun!

I was thinking about those questions, our family loves hanging out together outside. We haven't taken a vacation this year because everything is so expensive, especially gas. Instead, we're going to have a staycation in our own yard and watch movies on the screen we bought for the porch. If we had a ton of money saved up, I don't think we would go anywhere. It would be fun, but if you think about it, you really save a lot of money by staying home and spending quality time together as a family.
