Unschooling Unveiled: Why It Was the Best Choice for Our Family

Exploring unschooling or homeschooling is a great way to give your child a more rewarding educational experience.

These approaches allowed my daughter to learn at her own pace and explore their interests and passions in a way that fosters her growth and development. Homeschooling can also provide flexible learning opportunities that go beyond the traditional classroom setting. My daughter loves individual learning techniques such as reading on her own without my help or her dads. She's began to have an interest also in cursive, although we didn't encourage it she pursued it all on her own! Definitely a proud mom and dad moment.

When choosing workbooks we have trouble due to what is or isn't in the books themselves. If something is too hard or not of interest at the time she will go back after and finish the work. She has a greater interest in Art and Science, that's normal for children to pick simple things first also. She has owned so many different art kits, Coloring or Drawing books, collection of rocks and precious stones, as well as a Microscope with the slides and everything.

Your child can learn anywhere and anytime, whether it's a science experiment in the kitchen, a nature walk to explore the ecosystem, or a visit to a local museum to learn about history. While homeschooling or unschooling you are letting your child pick and choose what they want to learn at that given time. That allows them to decide a responsible way for their learning.

Because of our location, we're able to visit the library and read about the History of our area and how it influenced the growth of this area and more. She enjoyed learning about the "Ancient Mound's" and other stories of "The Ridges of Athens" and other unique history like her Dad's family background.

These activities make education more fun and enriching, and they help your child discover their passions, develop important life skills, and learn in a way that's tailored to their individual needs and interests. With unschooling or homeschooling, the possibilities are endless, and your child's educational journey becomes a personalized, enriching experience that sets them up for success in both their academic and personal lives.

Now, let's address the notion that learning about art and science is not for everyone. Well, my dear skeptics, I beg to differ! The beauty of these subjects lies in their versatility and inclusivity. Whether a child gravitates towards the vibrant strokes of a painting or the intricate equations of physics, there is something for everyone to appreciate and engage with. Art and science are not exclusive clubs with strict entry requirements; they are open landscapes waiting to be explored by curious minds of all ages. So, to those who doubt the universal appeal of these topics, I say: give them a chance, and you might just be pleasantly surprised by what you discover!
